Square Motif Handbag

This is the medallion used in the handbag and instructions for it. You’ll need 48 of them to make the handbag in Artamo Crochet Book. (at date I’ve only made 11)

As much fun as I’m having recreating these I’m wondering about the legality of publishing my effort. I’ve found 2 copies of Artamo; both are reprints of the free version but apparently not translated for modern language. So I’m assuming since the book is now public domain I can do as I wish with it? It’s something to look into at a later date for now I’m going to keep playing. 🙂

Medallion: make 48

Row 1: Ch 10, join with a SS into a ring. Work 16 SC into ring as follows for best results:  Ch1, SC same ST, 1, 2 per ST, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 2, 1

or

CH1 SC in same chain (CH counts as 1st SC) SC in next chain, 2 SC in same CH next two CH, SC, 2SC same CH, SC, 2SC in same CH next two CH, SC finish with a SS into CH1.

Row 2: SC in 1st SC, CH5, (TR in next 3 SC, CH5, SC, CH5) repeat join with SS to 1st SC. Fasten off. Four shells made.
