Joining Medallions

Okay it took me a long time to get this far. Longer than I think was necessary but it kept confusing me. For those of you who want to take a gander at the book I’m working from you can find it on B&N. There are two print copies available on Amazon but they didn’t look to be in updated language.

20121027-091118.jpgRow 1: Join with a SS to the middle TR of a shell on first medallion

Ch 9 (this counts as 1TR plus Ch 5), TR in the same ST

CH 7, TR in next middle ST of next shell, CH 5, TR in same ST

CH 7 and repeat, joining with a SS into the 1st TR

20121027-091149.jpgRow 2: SS to the third CH of CH 5

Ch 8, Dc in same St, Ch 2 turn

*Tr in middle St of shell on 2nd medallion, turn

Dc in 1st Ch of Ch 7 of 1st medallion

Ch 2, Sk 2, Dc, Ch 2, Sk 2, Dc, turn

Tr in middle st of shell on 2nd medallion in next shell, turn

Dc in 3rd Ch of Ch 5 on 1st medallion, Ch 5, Dc in same St, Ch 2, turn (be careful to get the dc sp and not the tr!)

Tr in middle of shell on 3rd medallion, turn

Dc in 1st ch of Ch 7 of 1st medallion

Ch 2, Sk 2, Dc, Ch 2, Sk 2, Dc, turn

Tr in middle st of next shell on 3rd medallion, ch 2, turn

Dc in 3rd ch of ch 5 on 1st medallion, ch 5, dc in same sp, turn

Continue to work along 3rd medallion,

tr where last tr was worked,

ch 7, 2 tr with ch 5 between them in center of next shell of 3rd medallion

Ch 7, tr ch 5 tr in center of next shell,

Ch 7, tr in center of next shell (1 tr already there)

Ch 2, sc in 3rd ch of ch 5 loop below,

Ch 2, tr in center of 1st shell of 2nd medallion (1 tr already there)

Ch 7, tr, ch 5, tr same st of shell, repeat till a tr is already in the shell

Ch 7, tr in center of next shell, ch 2,

20121027-091230.jpg*Ss up the side to the middle of ch 5

Tr into shell of new medallion

Dc into 1st ch, ch2, Sk 2 etc

Tr into next shell of medallion

Ch 2, Sc into ch 5, ch 2

Tr In to new medallion

Dc into 1st ch, ch 2 etc

Tr into next shell

Repeating from * making sure to Tr twice in 2nd corner of middle medallions as well as into third corner of middle medallions

When you get to the end of the row ch 2, sc into middle of ch 5 ch 2 tr into shell with one just worked

Ch 7, 2 tr with ch 5 btwn continue that pattern till you reach e end of the row again tr into last tr, SS to top, etc

repeat until  you have four medallions in a row. Set aside and make one more just like it.

Okay I hope that was somewhat understandable. I understand my translations but that doesn’t mean anyone else does. When I joined the two halves together I ss too tightly in places making the medallions out of whack, the point for example, so be careful not to do that. The point obviously is at the bottom of the bag.  😉

I have not yet added more medallions but it should work by just adding them in to the top on-the-round at this point until the last 30 are used up.
