Every so often, normally about once a year or so, I decide I need an agent. I’ll contact about three to five people and then promptly forget about it in favor of doing something else. I seriously have no desire to spend my valuable time combing literally thousands of people (in the US) who might want to take a chance on me or me them.
What I’ve found is that most agents and publishers want ‘the next big thing’. It’s been long known that publishers are unwilling to take a chance on new and unusual works but what people often don’t realize is that agents are the same.
Often times agents will become disillusioned to the business when they realize that they can’t sell an awesome book they love to a publisher. So they become embittered. They refuse unsolicited queries, they hide behind query letters and generally become unreachable unless they desire it.
What I’ve found is that the average person will buy my books; but agents won’t sponsor it and publishers fear it.
What is it that the average public that I meet in line at the grocery store sees that these companies don’t?
I admit freely that I don’t possess the business savvy to market my book or reach a larger public. That’s why I need representation. I need someone who’s knowledgeable and willing to take it on.
Time isn’t an issue for me in when it gets republished. I’m willing to wait months, even years, as an agent works to find a publisher who fits my book.
You read right; a publisher who fits my books.
I have never been a conformist. I have never ‘fit in’ with everyone else. So is it a surprise that my books don’t either?
I’ve decided that instead of wasting my vauable time looking for a brave soul who fits me; that you need to audition for me.
So in conclusion I am currently accepting inquiries to be my new literary agent and publisher. Please list all previous experience and current projects. Small time publishers, new literary agents, and persons outside the US may apply.
