Broomstick Lace Cup Cozy

Fooling around making cozies I came up with this broomstick lace one.

Yarn: Aunt Lydia’s Crochet Thread Size 10

Gauge: not essential (but make sure it fits the cup at the bottom)

Hook: Crochet hook size 1.15mm steel, Knitting needle or object used for broomstick 11.50mm

I’m going to assume you are familiar with broomstick lace. If, however, you need a refresher or would like an easy tutorial I recommend this one.

Row 1: Ch 61 loosely, Sc in 2nd ch from hook working one Sc in every Ch across. 60Sc

Row 2: Pull up loops placing them on your dowel till you have 60 loops. On return pass, remember not to turn, insert hook through 5 loops, Ch 1 to lock, Sc 5 times in your new group. Remainder groups will be 5 Sc per 5 loops. The Ch 1 is only used on the 1st grouping made to lock it in place. 12 groups in all.

Row 3: repeat row 2

Row 4: On your return pass made 6 Sc per 5 loops, for the next 5 groups. This will increase your total Sc to 65.

Row 5 and 6: Repeat row 2 – 13 groups

Finish: Sc your seam together and bind off.
